Boundaries: 96th St. to Harlem River, East River to 5th Ave
Where Would You Live? Most of East Harlem’s residential buildings are some form of rent-regulated housing and the neighborhood has one of the largest concentrations of public housing in New York. Since 2010, there has been an increase of certificates of occupancy issued and new development in the area is on the rise. New developments and renovated prewar buildings can be found along Fifth Avenue from 96th Street to 110th.
Neighborhood Features: Dining destinations like El Paso Taqueria, La Fonda Boricua, and Harley’s smokeshack; outdoor recreation at Central Park; Cultural destinations such as El Museo del Barrio and the Graffiti Hall of Fame; big box shopping at East River Plaza which has a Costco, Target, Best Buy, and Marshalls.
Subways: 6 to 96th St. | 6 to 110th St. | 6 to 116th St | 4,5,6 to 125th St.
