Boundaries:  Red Hook peninsula between Buttermilk Channel, Gowanus Bay, and Gowanus Canal to Hamilton Ave.

 

Where Would You Live? Defined by its waterfront industrial area, Red Hook is a mix of row houses and industrial warehouses many dating back to mid-1800s.

 

Neighborhood Features: Big box shopping at IKEA; excellent supermarket shopping at Fairway Market; outdoor recreational activities at Louis J. Valentino Park and the waterfront district; trendy dining at restaurants such as The Res, a restaurant that holds residencies for visiting chefs and The Good Fork; outdoor grub at Red Hook Food Vendors in Red Hook Park; drinking at Brooklyn Ice House and Sunny’s.

 

Subways: No subways directly to Red Hook. Closest subway, F,G to Smith-9th Street; F,G, and R to Fourth Avenue-9th Street. You can also take the NY Water Taxi to the Ikea Dock.
