3:45 PM, OCTOBER 3, 2013

Fredrik Eklund

FLAMBOYANT Fredrik Eklund, star of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York will keynote the Staten Island Board of Realtors 7th annual Global Real Estate Symposium on Oct. 17.

It’s being held at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, 1000 Richmond Terrace in Livingston, “a spectacular setting for a spectacular event,” according to Sari Kingsley, chairwoman of the event.

“As worldwide commerce continues to transition, it becomes essential for forward-thinking Realtors and others associated with the housing industry to understand the ins and outs of global commerce,” said Traci Cangiano, president of SIBOR. “Our Global Real Estate Symposium provides a pathway of useful information for those wanting to expand their international business relationships.”

Eklund has over $1.5 billion in sales to his credit. Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, he works with the Eklund-Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Eklund founded an Internet company and worked for the investment bank SEB in Stockholm, London, Singapore and Tokyo before launching a real estate career.

Other speakers will include Danielle Grossenbacher from Brown Harris Stevens; James Prendamano, broker, Cassandra Properties; Varun Sanyal, Staten Island Economic Development Corp.; Wesam Berjaoui, University Islamic Financial; and Jeffrey Stanton, CEO, The Real Estate Institute of America.

Tickets including breakfast, lunch and cocktail reception, are $75 for SIBOR members and their guests, and $95 for non-members. Call 718-928-3223 or email

GREEN developer Dyal Compass just paid $4.65 million for 4 Bedford Street, a four-story, Village townhouse.

It has three apartments, including an owner’s duplex and additional air rights. Dyal Compass is the developer of the first resort community to have all of its homes LEED certified and also the developer of the HGTV Dream Home 2013, the first Platinum LEED certified Dream Home.

The firm plans to convert 4 Bedford Street into a single-family townhome that will be both Passive and LEED certified.
“We were happy to be a part of this new green initiative. Hopefully, it’ll serve as a model moving forward for others to follow,” said Massey Knakal’s James P. Nelson, who exclusively handled the deal.

THE multi-talented publicist Kelly Kreth has turned her hand to art.

And while she’s unlikely to win any prizes for her form, the social media director for BOND New York gets 10 out of 10 for creativity.

Kreth came up with a cute idea to highlight exclusive listings that have no furnishings with a series of stick men cartoon figures she photshopped into the empty units.

“It seems to be working,? said Kreth. “The first one I tried got 32 likes in the first hour.?
