Artisan Eatery Opening New Hot Spot in the Hamptons

Artisan eatery opening new hot spot in the Hamptons

Sag Harbor ’s sleepy restaurant scene is waking up.

Doppio East — the fourth Doppio Artisan Bistro restaurant — is opening in the space that once housed Madison & Main at 126 Main St.

The spacious 2,500-square-foot eatery will seat 100 inside, with 15 seats at the bar, and up to 50 people outside.

The Italian restaurant, from executive chef Louis Barresi and partner Thomas Pescuma, comes shortly after Doppio West Village opened in 1,500 square feet at 581 Hudson St.

The chain started three years ago with Doppio Greenwich in Connecticut, followed by Long Island’s Doppio Huntington last year and French restaurant Barrique in Stamford, Conn.

Adding to the Sag Harbor scene, a pre-existing restaurant, Page, at 63 Main St. , is joining the environmentally friendly aquaponics movement that raises crops and fish together.

James Carpenter is launching a self-sustainable rooftop garden, where he will raise fish; not to eat but to use their waste as fertilizer for the herbs and edible plants used in the restaurant’s dishes.

Calling all sweet tooths!

Bee’s Knees Baking Co. is opening its second spot at 347 Third Ave. , following its debut at 113 W. 10th St. in the West Village, according to owner Marco Stucky.

The new location is 750 square feet, with a 100-square-foot mezzanine and basement. BOND New York’s Joseph Robinson represented Bee’s Knees and Pink Stone Realty represented the landlord.

The bakery is known for its “cake-cups” — complex, cake creations in cupcake size .

WE HEAR… that on Wednesday the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, a nonprofit known as C-Cap that supports cooking classes in inner-city schools, will hold a cooking competition for 21 high school seniors to earn culinary college scholarships, with top judges from restaurants including Nobu 57, Loi and Betony…. that oenophiles will sip their way through top merlot and cabernet sauvignon-based wines next month when winemakers from some of the 188 wineries that make up Le Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux come to town for the first time to showcase popular vintages from 2010 and 2011. The Bordeaux bacchanal happens April 9 at Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue….that soba noodle masters are opening Daruma-ya in Tribeca at 428 Greenwich St. in early April.
