Boundaries: 86th to 98th Streets; Fifth Avenue to Lexington Avenue

Where Would You Live? Carnegie Hill boasts a wealth of old town houses and mansions retaining much of its architectural integrity from the 19th century. While there has been some recent construction of new condominiums, building is fairly restricted.

Neighborhood Features: Excellent private schools such as Dalton, St. David's, Spence and Nightingale-Bamford; outdoor recreation at Central Park; boutique shopping along Madison Avenue; Museum Mile along Fifth Avenue with art institutions such as Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim; specialty food stores are abundant as well as conveniences such as drug stores, delis, supermarkets and dry cleaners.

Subways: 4,5,6 to 86th St. | 6 to 96th St.
